“Wow, what a mare!” are Tabatha Poling’s words to best describe her new partner, Lazy Holla Dayz, aka “Stella” – a mare which Tabatha spent five minutes on recently at the All American Quarter Horse Congress before she declared Stella as “the one.”
Not only did they wish for a horse that was kind, easy to work with and prepare, and a pleasure to ride, show, and be around, Tabatha explains, but she and her husband went to Congress with their trainer, Ryan Kail, “in search of a horse that has the talent and a proven track record to get me to my goals and dreams of winning at the Congress and World Shows,” she reveals.
They chose exactly that, as Lazy Holla Dayz is a well-known name at the majors, earning titles such as 2018 Reserve Congress Champion Maturity Non Pro Limited Western Pleasure with Shawn Johnson, 2021 Congress Champion Non Pro Ltd. Maturity Western Pleasure Stakes and 2021 Reserve Congress Champion Non Pro Western Pleasure Maturity with Shawn. Then in 2022, Shawn and Stella won 3rd in the Amateur Western Pleasure at the NSBA World Show, followed by a 2022 Congress Bronze with Kenny Lakins in Senior Western Pleasure.
All these are just a few of her accolades, as one might imagine, considering her earnings are over $82,000. “A special thank you to Kenny and Ashley Lakins Quarter Horses and Shawn Johnson for selling us this special horse! We are so excited for Tabatha’s future as it will be very bright!” add Ryan and Andrea Kail.
Stella’s fans can look forward to watching Tabatha and her new partner in the Performance Halter Mares and the Amateur Select Pleasure, but their future together holds even more promise. “In addition to our showing career Stella will play a role in our breeding program with Poling Performance horses. We look forward to future generations of this talented mare,” says Tabatha.
“I could not be more excited about the 2024 show season with Stella!” exclaims Tabatha. “A special thanks to those that have made this possible: my amazing trainers Ryan and Andrea Kail, Kenny and Ashley Lakins, and Shawn Johnson for allowing Stella to become part of our family, and my husband David Poling, who supports me in achieving my goals and dreams!”
Good luck to this amazing new team – we look forward to cheering you on!
