Longe Line classes serve as a precursor to a show horse’s career. Though the class provides many perks such as getting a young horse used to the routine of showing, more importantly, it is an irreplaceable tool to prove a future under saddle horse’s value in movement, temperament, and conformation.
If the year Tiffany Riehm and her yearling, Living On White Claws, are having is any indication, “Liv” is headed toward an illustrious show career with almost $14,000 in earnings to date.
The 2024 sorrel overo mare by Allocate Your Assets and out of All I Ever Wanted headed to The Premier with Tiffany in May, and the pair was unstoppable.
They earned the following titles at the prestigious show:
♦Breeders Futurity Open Hunter Longe Line-Level 1 Champion
♦Breeders Futurity Color Open Hunter Longe Line-Level 3 Champion
♦Breeders Non Pro Hunter Longe Line-Level 3 Champion
♦Breeders Futurity Color Non Pro Hunter Longe Line Reserve Champion (tied to win)
♦Breeders Futurity Open Hunter Longe Line-Level 3 Reserve Champion
They followed it up at Back to Berrien in June with a Championship in Non Pro Hunter Longe Line, as well as a Championship in Super Sires NP Hunter Longe Line with winnings just shy of $4,000.
When they hit the APHA World Show in June, they turned heads with unanimous wins first in Amateur Hunter Yearling Longe Line, followed by Open Hunter Yearling Longe Line. They also won over $1,326 in the Non Pro Hunter Yearling Longe Line Sweepstakes.
Tiffany, who owns, trains, and exhibits her own yearlings in open and no pro classes, says she began showing as a youth in AQHA all around competition, and now, bringing a young horse along is the ultimate gift.
“I think it’s so rewarding to take them from a weanling who doesn’t know much to showing at NSBA and Congress late in their yearling year,” she explains. “I love teaching them and taking them to the show pen to showcase their talent. It’s so cool to watch their journey.”
Tiffany’s friend and fellow longe line fan Anthony Leier had spotted Liv for sale when she was a weanling, and Tiffany was immediately drawn to her. “Liv was stunning to look at out in the field, with talent and beauty of the highest caliber,” she says. “She just had the look right away – she naturally hung her head and demonstrated a lofty, floaty trot. She was born to be an outstanding hunter under saddle horse. She loves to show!”
Tiffany and her yearlings, Livin On White Claws and Midnight Burn, are headed to the NSBA World Championship Show in August and to the All American Quarter Horse Congress in October!
