Easter Weekend Trail Practice: Carrot Grids from Judge Jennifer Sawyer

Multi-carded judge and clinician Jennifer Sawyer of Silver Springs, Florida, brings us another fun way to practice trail in our extra holiday weekend time:

?Carrot grids, just in time for Easter weekend trail practice!?

Using the Equi-Pole The Polework App to create carrot grids,  the judge and clinician says the carrot grid is a favorite on her roster as it’s easy to set and there are so many variations you can work within it!

Read on for her instructions:

?For the carrot itself I use 2 12’ poles for the base on each side and a single 12’ for the top, but of course you can vary that! For the greens I use 8, 10 or 12’ poles.

?You can use cones anywhere for spacers or to mark the ends of the greens, I love using spring plants or flowers there to get some expression and get my horses looking forward.

?ALWAYS remember your proper spacing and striding based on the gait you are riding! You can set these at any variation of strides (1, 2 etc.). Always measure “center to center” on your poles

Happy Easter and happy training!
