Competitors attending The Madness May 7-16 at the World Equestrian Center in Wilmington, Ohio are in for a sweet treat thanks to Meredith Knotts, aka “The Cookie Lady.” The business owner, head baker, and design lead of Cookie Lady Equine Confectionery has been busy in her kitchen this week baking custom-designed and hand-decorated cookies especially for horses competing at The Madness. Although these cookies might look good enough to eat, they’re actually for horses!
Continue reading …For the past six years, we’ve grown used to watching Meg DePalma aboard her beautiful black gelding, Hotroddin Ona Harley, competing in Western All-Around classes to great success at events like the AQHA World Show, NSBA World Show, and Quarter Horse Congress. But after the recent sale of “Harley” to a fellow barn member, Robin Sowell, Meg was in need of a new partner. She seems to have found the perfect match in the 7-year-old mare, Don’t Think Twice, aka “Marley.”

The Florida Gold Coast saw competitors representing 37 states and 2 foreign countries, with 16,032 AQHA entires and 750 National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) entires, marking a total of 16,782 entries throughout the Florida Gold Coast circuit. For the last three years, the Florida Gold Coast has been named in the top three of AQHA annual events and circuits, and is thrilled to be ranked number one for 2020.

Continue reading …With the World Show moving to the summer this year, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program was modified to 3-year-old maiden horse Open classes–a revision that was announced in the fall of 2020. The program was recently analyzed for the 2022 APHA World Show and the following changes have been made to allow more 3-year-olds to be eligible for the $50,000+ purse.
