Sun Circuit Shows 15% Increase in Attendance Off the Bat

The 2019 Arizona Sun Circuit kicks off eight days of competition in sunny Scottsdale today, and show management reports they’ve already seen a 15% increase in stall reservations over last year’s event. The show begins with Halter, Showmanship, Roping, Over Fences, Versatility Ranch Horse, Cutting, Golden Cowboy Herd Work, and Roping today and transitions to Western Riding, Trail, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Versatility Ranch Horse, Reining, Roping, and Cowhorse classes tomorrow.

Judges include Jeff Allen, Jan Dublin, Buddy Fisher, David Avery, Elizabeth Baker, Jennifer Leckey, Jonathan Meilleur, Dolly Chayer, Michelle Tidwell, Rhonda Replogle, Dean Bogart, Charlene Carter, Pierre Briere, Mike Weaver, Lynda Danielson, Eric Petersen, Bruce Army, Rick Chayer, Jan Hay, Steve Brown, Tom McBeath, Doug Allen, Gary Putman, and Mark Sheridan.

National Championship Tournament

The inaugural National Championship Tournament will debut at the show in 2019. The final year end rankings of the top 64 exhibitors in the country (determined by ranking committee) in Showmanship, Horsemanship, and Equitation are invited to participate in this fun competition that will narrow down teams to the Sensational 16, Exceptional 8, and The Four leading up to the National Championship rounds.

NSBA Riders’ Cup

The 2019 NSBA Riders’ Cup will take place March 5 and 6th, bringing $75,000 in added money to eligible horse and rider teams competing in Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Trail, Western Riding, Showmanship, Western Horsemanship, and Hunt Seat Equitation. The purse monies will be split between the owner of the horse and the professional rider or trainer associated with the horse. Judges will be Christa Baldwin, Judd Paul, and Kristy Starnes.

Clinics

Like always, clinics are free and open to the public. Equine Nutrition Specialist, Kristin Stephens, will explain important nutrition facts and answer questions about appropriate diet during the Nutrena Balanced Nutrition Seminar on Thursday, March 7th, 1-2 PM.

Parties

On Monday, March 4th, enjoy the Exhibitors’ Lunch Party hosted by 7 Bar Ranch and AQHA stallions, Indefinate, Definitely All That, and Tigers by the Tail. A free lunch will be served ringside at The Equine Chronicle arena. On Tuesday, March 5th, Susie Johns and family are sponsoring the NSBA Exhibitors’ Appetizer Party following the last class ringside by The Equine Chronicle arena. On Thursday, March 7th, another Exhibitors’ Lunch Party will be hosted by Sandra Morgan and AQHA stallions, Mechanic and The Mile High Club.
