Showmanship is one of Mallory’s favorite classes, because it’s a true test of athletic ability. “A lot of it is being able to run with good posture,” she says. “Your shoulders need to be back, and you need to run with elegance. You can’t waddle or look very stiff. You need to show a lot of presence. It’s easy to show it off if you have a very flowing pattern. Being able to move throughout the pattern quickly is also a very important aspect.”

Over in the Mustang Arena, Terry Cross led Krymsun Cappuccino to win the Color Longe Line class for owner Rebecca Hogan. This beautiful buckskin filly is a registered Appaloosa by One Hot Krymsun. This is “Scout’s” first horse show, and Terry was very pleased with the result.

Hillary and Sid did quite a bit of winning last year at the Congress and World Show, but this year presented a new challenge: the transition from hackamore to bridle. “It was a lot easier than I anticipated,” she says. “He’s really good in the bridle and has a lot of self-carriage, so it really wasn’t hard to transition from the hackamore.”
