Cathy Hanson is AQHA 2017 Merle Wood Humanitarian Award Recipient

Hanson grew up with horses her entire life, learning from her father, Don Blazer. She competed as a youth and fell in love with the American Quarter Horse. She was drawn to their athleticism and heart. Hanson showed in the open division as a youth, and earned the title of AQHA reserve world champion in western riding in 1988 aboard the mare Lo Lindo.

The TCU Horned Frogs earn two NCEA monthly honors for February. Jayme Omand, a Senior from Sacramento, CA earns Equifit Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month after posting a 4-0-1 record and bringing home one MOP honor. Sophomore Laska Anderson picks up another monthly accolade with Shorty’s Horsemanship Rider of the Month after posting a 4-0-1 record and two MOP honors. This is Anderson’s second consecutive NCEA Rider of the Month award.
