Every year, regional APHA clubs from across the United States send teams to compete in the Youth Team Tournament. But this year’s event has some extra guests, thanks to the help of Lazo Performance Horses of Caldwell, Texas. Five Australian Paint lovers are attending the Youth World Show to compete in the biennial Youth World Games, and they hoped to make the most of their long trek to the United States by also participating in the Youth Team Tournament, too. Trainer Kelly Lazo’s daughter, Sabine, is competing for Team USA, and heard about Team Australia’s hopes and wanted to help. The Lazos donated four horses to the Australian team so they could compete in the tournament.

On Friday, the winner of the Non-Pro Open Yearling Longe Line will walk away with a check for $5,000. On Saturday, the Non Pro Limited 3-Year-Old and Non-Pro Open 3-Year-Old Western Pleasure Champions will each receive checks for $10,000.

Talented Paint Horses and their riders colored South Carolina as they battled it out for the chance at commemorative championship buckles. The 2018 Southeast Paint Horse Championship took place at the Palmetto Paint Horse Club May Madness Show on May 5–7 2018 in Camden, South Carolina.

Scoring a 218 ½ in the first day of competition was enough for Cade McCutcheon and Dual Reality (Mister Nicadual x Snip O Chex) to stay on top of the leaderboard in both the L4 and Youth divisions.  

One of the highlights of the Derby is the Collegiate Reining Championship scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, June 29, at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, featuring the top college riders from North America.
