From WestWorld and the City of Scottsdale:
It is with profound sadness that I share the unexpected passing of longtime City of Scottsdale employee and WestWorld Foreman Walt Weir.
For nearly 30 years, Walt faithfully served the City of Scottsdale and became an irreplaceable member of the WestWorld family. Throughout his career, he earned the respect and admiration of coworkers, you as our partners, exhibitors, and members of our equestrian community, through his dedication and passion.
Walt was often the first person many of you have sought out upon arriving at WestWorld, and often a person who was relied on throughout their events. His extensive knowledge of the facility, strong work ethic, and genuine care for others made him an invaluable resource to both staff and you as our clients. More importantly, Walt built lasting relationships with many of you, who considered him not only a colleague but a friend.
On behalf of the City, we extend our deepest condolences to Walt’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. Please know that it is our commitment to all of you to ensure continuity of operations during this time as well. We’ll provide detailed updates as it impacts each of you individually
Please keep Walt’s family and the WestWorld team in your thoughts during this difficult time.
