“Shown Astride” Rule Changed For Pleasure Versatility Challenge

Filed under: Club & Show News,Club and Show News |

The inaugural Pleasure Versatility Challenge was won in 2018 by KM Flat Out The Best, shown by AQHA Professional Horsewoman Deanna Searles. Founding PVC members recently decided to donate all of their membership fees, $5,000 in total, to the AQHA Professional Horsemen’s Crisis Fund. (Credit: Journal)

The PVC Founding Members voted unanimously to change the “shown ASTRIDE” date of the Pleasure Versatility Challenge (PVC) from a date that mirrored the traditional AQHA entry deadline, to:

“Horses cannot have been shown ASTRIDE in any Western Riding, Trail, or in any similar Pleasure Versatility Challenge Event prior to September 15, 2020As of September 15, 2020 and thereafter, horses may be shown without restriction at any competition without forfeiting PVC eligibility.”

PVC entries will continue to be taken consistent with the AQHA World Show revised entry deadline of October 15, 2020.

Your Founding Members of the PVC considered the unique issues surrounding the pandemic and particularly the changes made to the AQHA World Show entry deadline being moved from the traditional mid-September date (September 16 in 2018; September 15 in 2019) to the 2020 entry deadline of October 15, 2020.  The need to allow for the inclusion of Select and L1 amateurs with the traditional Open and Amateurs led AQHA to extend the entry deadline for the benefit of all exhibitors.  Fortunately, the improved entry technology tested and utilized for the Youth World Show allows for this later entry deadline.
