“Don’t Give Up,” a phrase often echoed throughout the challenging world of horse shows, is also a phrase perfectly suited to industry icon Heidi Rasor, who has hit her stride as a Select Amateur after chasing her Gold Globe dreams for 27 years.
“You keep trying because you love the horses, the people, and the horse shows, and you hope you reach that pinnacle one day,” reveals the Scottsdale, Arizona, resident. She’d had a taste of that ultimate success by winning the Congress in 2006, she says, and then, “I had a long drought.”

Reid Thomas, armed with a renowned reputation for pairing horse and rider, says matching a person to a program is equally important, and Heidi has been a match from the start of their journey. “I had always looked up to her, and I remember the day she called me and said she’d watched me for years, and it was me or she was hanging up her hat,” he divulges. “I’m so glad I said yes.”
