It is with deep regret we announce that we have to cancel the Tarheel Spring Classic due to NC Governor Cooper issuing Executive Order 120, which prohibits any mass gathering of greater than 50 people through 5 pm on April 24th. We look forward to bringing the show to you in 2021 and ask you to take necessary precautions for the health of you and your family. Please plan to join us in Raleigh, NC. on June 11-14 for the Tarheel Summer Classic.

In preparation for this year’s 73rd Appaloosa National Horse Show & Youth World Championship in Fort Worth, Texas, the official show schedule was released, and it included some historic changes. Weanling halter classes and two-year-old riding classes were eliminated from the schedule.

APHA is planning on hosting the APHA Youth World Show as currently scheduled; however, we are continuing to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and will follow the direction and guidance of federal, state and local authorities. We will be sure to communicate any changes as soon as possible. Increases in class entries were seen across the board. There were 22,609 AQHA entries and 4,647 NSBA class entries, including NSBA Color Breed classes. NRHA and NRCHA classes also saw increases. Sun Circuit utilized every inch of the WestWorld show grounds. Ten arenas held classes and additional arenas were available for warm up.

“With the Coronavirus spreading rapidly across the United States and our health care system nearing a tipping point, we had no choice but to cancel these shows,” said ApHC President Ken Johnson. “Nearly 40 percent of the nation’s population is now impacted by stay-at-home orders and that number is likely to rise in the weeks ahead. We have an obligation to safeguard our members and exhibitors, to the extent possible. While a very difficult decision for the entire Board, it was the socially responsible and necessary thing to do.”
