09One of the most anticipated events of the year for the Halter horse industry, the Breeders’ Halter Futurity (BHF), held September 13-17 in Des Moines, Iowa, is offering new and exciting additions for 2017. One of the new programs this year is the Amateur Progeny Rewards Program, which is a new category for weanlings purchased from one of the approved amateur stallion owners. “We’re very excited to introduce this new program and reward exhibitors who purchase a foal from one of our amateur stallion owners,” says Event Secretary Karen
Kennedy. “This is a great program for the exhibitor, who might not want to breed their own foals, but who might want to buy a foal from one of our amateur stallion owners and have the opportunity to compete for additional money.”

Amateur stallion owner of The Home Run Kid and Ecredible, Suzonne Franks, is very excited and optimistic about this new program and is excited to see foals from her breeding program out in the arena competing for the added money. “With this new program comes a new avenue for the amateur stallion owner to sell the foals they raise. We have a large foal crop every year and this offers an incentive for people to come and buy our foals and have the opportunity to be eligible for even more money. We’ve already had a lot of visitors to our farm looking at our babies, and they’re all excited about the BHF and the Amateur Progeny Rewards Program. We love that this program will help to put our foals in great show homes, and, in turn, their success in the show arena will help to promote our breeding program,” Franks says.

A big draw of the BHF year after year is the chance for exhibitors of all breeds to win a considerable amount of added money. One reason this is possible is due to the generosity of the program’s numerous corporate and individual sponsors. The Equine Chronicle is proud to have been a presenting sponsor of this futurity from the very beginning.

The list of eligible stallions is as follows:

• Ecredible
• Grand Slam Touchdown
• Heza Secret Agent
• Iem The One
• Ikon
• Kid Coolsified
• My Intention
• PTMA Star Kid
