Around the Rings Photos and Results – APHC Copper Country POR, Dec 31, 2022

Filed under: Around The Ring Galleries,Featured,Show Results & Gallery |

Friday, December 31st at the 2022 APHC Copper Country Paint O Rama saw two show rings of action, ranging from Western Pleasure to Trail, Western Riding, Western Horsemanship, and Ranch events.

December POR judges: A-Brendan Brown (MO) NSBA, B-Dave Denniston (CO) NSBA, C-Bob Kail (AZ) NSBA, D-Keith Longacre (OK) NSBA.

January POR judges (judging Trail as ancillary judges): A- Cindy Chilton Moore (MO), NSBA, B- Mark Kuhlwein (AZ), C- Teresa Pelton (FL) D- Leanne Williams (CO) NSBA.

In the Equidome in the morning, Reese Byers of Wichita, Kansas, tied for the win with her sister, Sawyer Byers, in the Novice Youth Western Pleasure. Sawyer won it by the tie-breaker judge with Only One Vision, and Reese reports she was happy with her final Western Pleasure class as a Youth with Ill B At The Bar.

Her main goal while attending Copper Country was to cinch the Number One spot for the APHA Year End in Novice Youth. “So far I think I have it pretty secured, and that’s a good thing! I’m super-excited,” she says.

As of January 1, for the second Paint O Rama at the show, Reese had a big change on the horizon.  “I’m going to be an Amateur tomorrow! It’s going to be a crazy change, and everything will get a little big harder, but it’s okay – we’ll do it,” she says. Her goals are to hopefully win a little and get used the harder patterns going from Novice Youth to Amateur.

Reese explains her favorite thing about “Troy” is his willingness.  “He’s so willing and he just wants to try his heart out for me; he’s such a good boy.”
