The American Quarter Horse Association is proud to provide information and resources for competitive horse judging. This information can be found by visiting www.aqha.com/horsejudging.

AQHA offers competitive horse judging teams the opportunity to compete at AQHA events throughout the year. Competitions allow divisions in senior and junior colleges, as well as through 4-H, FFA and AQHA state affiliate youth associations.

AQHA judging events educate future industry professionals and judges, and allow youth an opportunity to be involved in another aspect of the horse industry while developing skills in critical thinking and public speaking. Participants evaluate a variety of four-horse halter and performance classes and give four to six sets of memorized oral reasons justifying their placings. At contests, a panel of judges determines an official placing for each class.

Each year, AQHA hosts judging competitions at the Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show in August and the Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show in November, both in Oklahoma City. Information about the Merial AQHYA Judging Contest at the Ford Youth World is available here. Information on the Merial AQHA Judging Contest at the Lucas Oil World will be available at www.aqha.com/worldshow at a later date.
