The horse world lost one of its giants. Joe Mizzi was not just a breeder, exhibitor, or leader. He was a man whose generosity, wisdom, and loyalty left a lasting mark far beyond the fences of his farm in Michigan.

Joe Mizzi, owner of Painted Plantation, LLC, passed away suddenly on August 30, 2025. The news sent ripples through the American Paint Horse community and beyond as friends, colleagues, and fellow horse lovers began sharing story after story about the kindness and commitment Joe embodied every single day.

Though his passing leaves an irreplaceable void, the life he led was filled with love, grit, faith, and quiet mentorship–and he remains a guiding light for all who knew him.
