Congress Champion Sharese Rivait with Show Your Invitation

Sharese Rivait and her 14-year-old gelding, “Ross,” scored a 226 to win Youth 12-14 Trail this morning at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. The scores for the top five competitors were extremely close, separated by a spread of two points.
Coming in Reserve with a 226 was Ellexxah Maxwell with Zips Bossy Chip. Third place with a score of 225.5 was Taylor Searles with Flashy Attraction. Fourth place was Killian Mullen with Lover Treat Me Good, scoring a 225.5. Rounding out the top five was Clay Arrington and RV Won Good Version with a 224.
Rivait and Ross have been a team for six years now. Assisting the pair with preparation for today’s class was Ryan Cottingim and Amanda Gately.
“Trail is my favorite class, and he really likes it,” Rivait says. “It’s really calm, and I can be mellow. He behaved really well for me today, and I was really happy.”

If Rivait had to pick the obstacle set Ross would be most likely to receive plus points on, it would be the portions that require precision and patience.
“We’re really good at the gate, the sidepass, and the back through, the really slow stuff,” she says. “For us, the trot serpentine was kind of challenging, because he isn’t a great jogger, but we got through it.”
Earlier in the show, Rivait and Ross placed 6th in 12-14 Showmanship. Up next they will compete in 12-14 Western Riding and Equitation.
