Today’s team to introduce for the 2014 Youth World Games is none other than Team Australia, a country represented at every games to date but one that has yet to find a win. In 2012, they participated in a tie breaker that also included the United States and Germany. With their always-outgoing group of riders, it’s always a joy to see the Australians in Fort Worth.

The 2014 Team Australia, coached by Lee Wear of Thirlmere, New South Wales, and David Egan of Dubbo, New South Wales, will include the following riders:

Hannah Lonergan

Hannah, a 15-year-old Tamborine, Queensland, has owned her palomino Paint Horse for five years, and she’s been competing in breed shows for four years. She has wanted to represent the Paint Horse Association of Australia at the Youth World Games for several years, and her favorite events are Western horsemanship and hunt-seat equitation.

Emlyn Broad

Emlyn, a 16-year-old from Upper Cacoolture, Queensland, represented Team Australia in 2012, and she hopes to return to the AjPHA Youth World Show to improve on her previous performance and have a good time.

Tenielle O’Brien

At 17 years old, Tenielle will compete for the first time at the Youth World Games. She lives in Lake Cathie, New South Wales, and her favorite riding event is Western horsemanship. In traveling to Texas for the Youth World Games, she wants to do her best and make her teammates and country proud.

Maddison Worthe

Eighteen-year-old Maddison from Wellington, New South Wales, has been competing for four years at the club, state and national level in Australia. She helped train her horse, a chestnut overo gelding who is now 7 years old, and she is excited to travel to and compete in Texas against riders from around the world.

Ruby MacArthur

Reserve rider Ruby is 15 and from Lake Innes, New South Wales. She has wanted to represent Team Australia for several years, and she looks forward to turning 16 years old while in Texas.

Good luck to everyone on Team Australia and all of our Youth World Games participants. Check back every day this week to meet the teams from around the world.
