As the 2015 AQHA Select World Show quickly draws to a close in Amarillo, TX, there are many newly crowned World Champions to congratulate! This first big winner this morning was crowned during a tough Tim Kimura Trail finals. Winning the class with a score of 234 was Susan Johns with Heza Radical Zip.

Your head begins to pound harder with each step on your way to the shower. Your muscles cry out for forgiveness, even after you pummel them with hot water and fight the urge to return to bed. The course rode smoothly with 15 horses scoring 221.5 or higher to make it to the finals. Sixteen more horses rode in the Shootout with the top five scoring 221 or better to be invited to the finals, which will be held on Thursday.

Equine Piroplasmosis (EP), also called babesiosis, is a blood-borne parasitic infection in horses transmitted primarily by ticks. It is caused by two protozoa that live in red blood cells. It affects horses, donkeys, mules and zebras. The protozoa that can cause EP are Theileria equi and Babesia caballi.
