The 2017 Gordyville Shootout and NSBA Classic Futurity brought AQHA competitors to Gifford, IL. for four days of fun, fantastic prizes, and fabulous purses. The fun kicked off on Friday, July 14th, with the Fiesta Friday Party that was complete with a taco bar, drinks, and entertainment.

National Western Stock Show Announces Return of Youth Equestrian Showcase Scholarship Program

Ten outstanding finalists will be selected from the applications to compete for the Y.E.S. scholarships and the title of Grand Champion (receives $2,000) and Reserve Grand Champion (receives $1,000). These finalists will create a video to play as part of their live interview, execute their plan for an educational visual display during NWSS and interact with the public in an educational setting during NWSS.

Exhibitors will compete for added money in various halter classes, thanks to the generosity of 10-year cumulative breeders Steve and Kathy Headley of Bloomington, Indiana, who donated $20,000; 30-year cumulative breeders Gary and Linda Gordon of Fossil Gate Farms, Roanoke, Texas, who donated $50,000; and 30-year cumulative breeder Terry Bradshaw, and his wife, Tammy, who donated $35,000.

Hundreds of Youth Get Head Start on College, Thanks to AjPHA Youth World Show

This year, the Youth World Show offered over $140,000 in scholarship prizes to AjPHA members competing at the show. Included were scholarships for top finishers in 83 world championship performance and halter classes, along with scholarships for randomly selected entries and other special events. All this in addition to the customary prizes awarded at the show, such as trophy buckles and saddles. Scholarship money was provided by the American Paint Horse Foundation, as well as private donations from APHA members and industry supporters.
