“Exhibitors can compete at any of the four Regional Championships; however, competitors can only compete in one Regional Championships each year,” said Charlie Hemphill, AQHA director of shows and new events. “These shows are the best way for exhibitors to get their feet wet in AQHA championship shows.”

Hanson grew up with horses her entire life, learning from her father, Don Blazer. She competed as a youth and fell in love with the American Quarter Horse. She was drawn to their athleticism and heart. Hanson showed in the open division as a youth, and earned the title of AQHA reserve world champion in western riding in 1988 aboard the mare Lo Lindo.

Owners of American Quarter Horse Association Incentive Fund-enrolled horses, as well as foal and stallion nominators, should start seeing their checks arrive for points earned during the 2017 show season. More than $1.26 million was paid to owners and nominators that earned Incentive Fund points in 2017.

Jayme Omand, a Senior from Sacramento, CA earns Equifit Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month after posting a 4-0-1 record and bringing home one MOP honor. Sophomore Laska Anderson picks up another monthly accolade with Shorty’s Horsemanship Rider of the Month after posting a 4-0-1 record and two MOP honors. This is Anderson’s second consecutive NCEA Rider of the Month award.
