ApHC Hall of Fame, New Executive Committee Announced

appApHC ANNOUNCES 2016 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

MOSCOW, Idaho— The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) is pleased to announce the 2016 Hall of Fame Inductees. This prestigious honor is determined automatically by production/performance records or through a vote by the ApHC Board of Directors on nominated horses and people.

Please join the ApHC in congratulating the following 2016 Hall of Fame Inductees:

Horses

  • The Secret – 2000 stallion sired by Dreamfinder and Kendalite N Roses, bred by Doug Schembri of Myakka City,FL. As a foal The Secret was syndicated following an injury and throughout his life produced many champion

    offspring.

  • She’s So Shy – (automatically inducted – earned a Bronze Supreme Dam Production Plaque in 2016) 1995 marebred and owned by Wendy Shuknecht of Elba, New York.
  • Way to My Heart – (automatically inducted – earned a Bronze Supreme Dam Production Plaque in 2016) 2002

    mare bred by Rochelle Feuerstein of Buttonwillow, California, owned by Lewis and Marilyn Feuerstein of Creston, California.

    The Appaloosa Hall of Fame was created in 1986 with a purpose of recognizing individuals and horses whose contributions have made an impressive and lasting impact on the industry as well as the ApHC. Each year ApHC membership submits nominations for individuals and horses they believe have made a great and favorable impact on the Appaloosa industry. The above inductees will be honored at the 2016 Year-End Awards Banquet held in conjunction with the 70th National Championship Appaloosa Show in Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, each Hall of Fame inductee will be recognized on an engraved plaque featuring a photograph and biography to be on permanent display in the Appaloosa Museum.

ApHC ELECTS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 

MOSCOW, Idaho—The ApHC Board of Directors met January 18, 2017, to swear in newly elected directors and select members of the Executive Committee and Disciplinary Committee. New to the board for a four-year term (per voter-approved changes to the ApHC Bylaws that will reduce the size of the board to 13, beginning in 2018) are: Thomas Hodges, Dexter, Oregon; Megan Disselkoen, Greeley, Colorado; Ken Johnson, Dahinda, Illinois; Sean Schembri, Myakka City, Florida; Paula Gatewood, Dry Ridge, Kentucky; and Bill Ready, Suffield, Connecticut. Dena Raggio, Pilot Point, Texas, was re-elected as President of the board. Other members of the Executive Committee include Vice President Tom Hodges, Chair of the Finance Committee Leslie Foxvog, Phelan, California; Rules Committee Chair Debby Letham, Yukon, Oklahoma; Chair of Planning & Review Lynette Thompson, Garfield, Washington; and, Marketing Committee Chair Mary Ann Page, Phoenix, Arizona. The Executive Committee term is one year.

A Disciplinary Committee is elected annually and is charged with the responsibility of hearing and reviewing evidence of alleged violations of ApHC bylaws, rules or regulations. Directors selected for the committee are Lesli Glen, Billings, Montana; Sean Schembri; Ray Burchett, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Ken Johnson; Bill Ready; Todd Michael, Findlay, Ohio; and Jim Jirkovsky, Kearney, Nebraska.

APPALOOSA YOUTH ASSOCIATION ELECTION RESULTS ANNOUNCED

MOSCOW, Idaho— Appaloosa Youth Association (AYA) members have spoken and the AYA is pleased to announce the results of the Board of Directors election! Please join the AYA in congratulating the following candidates who have been elected to represent their fellow youth members:

The AYA Director position for Territory V, Zone B was a special election to fill a vacancy. The term for this position is one-year only. All other newly elected AYA Directors will serve a two-year term beginning January of 2017.

The AYA Board of Directors meets regularly to discuss their recommendations regarding programs, rules and awards as they relate to the youth program. These suggestions are then taken to the Youth Committee of the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) Board of Directors for their consideration.
