Each year, APHA helps exceptional students get their foot in the door to the equine community through its internship program. This month, a new face joins the APHA team as the first intern of 2021.

Emma Edwards, a Seattle native, moved to Fort Worth in the summer of 2016 to attend Texas Christian University. During her time at TCU, Emma was a member of the NCEA Division 1 Equestrian Team. She graduated in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in sociology. She’s currently pursuing her master’s degree in communications through Arizona State University.

A lifelong horse lover, Emma got her first horse at 10 years old–a Paint named  Zip It Easy. “Woody” allowed her to grow as a young horsewoman while teaching her the value of persistence, patience and hard work. After a few more horses and lots of riding lessons throughout the years, Emma got her current horse, This Is Why Im Here (QH). Emma considers “Jack” to be her once-in-a-lifetime horse. Her favorite event to show Jack in is the Western Riding, and the pair has been very successful in the AQHA show ring.

It has always been a dream of Emma’s to be able to work and be involved in the equine industry post-graduation.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to learn and grow in a successful equine organization like APHA. I’m looking forward to combining my past and current academics with an industry I am passionate about.”

When Emma isn’t riding, you can find her catching up with friends. . . or thinking about the next horse show!
