APHA recently released its 2014 Annual Report, detailing the association’s accomplishments worldwide. The publication moved from a print and PDF-based format to a mini-website this year for enhanced readability.

“Our goal for the Annual Report is to transparently tell the story of APHA in 2014,” APHA Executive Director Billy Smith said. “Putting it into a more interactive format makes the stats, charts and analysis more visually interesting and allows us to track which information our members find the most valuable.”

Big, bold images present some of the year’s high points and the information is navigated much like a website. Charts build on the fly and sections expand and collapse, eliminating endless scrolling.

APHA continues to be the second-largest stock horse breed association in the world, reporting 2014 as the first profitable year since 2009.

During 2014, the official American Paint Horse Association Facebook Fan Page surpassed 200,000 likes, just nine months after it celebrated its 100,000 fan milestone.

The largest growth in APHA members that show horses was the Amateur Walk-Trot division, experiencing a 40% growth from 2011. Combined Youth and Open/Amateur World Championship Show entries and horses were up over 2013 numbers.

Zippos Sensation still sits atop the Top 10 Breeders’ Trust Stallions by Foal Earnings List with 121 total foals and $57,636.86 in total earnings, for a $476.34 average earnings per foal. These same foals earned 7,372 total points for a 61 average points per foal. Timeless Assets, continued his domination on the Breeders’ Trust Earnings by Foal List, earning his owner Colleen Bull a total of almost $7,000.

The Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program tripled the number of events from 2013, the program’s inaugural year, to 2014. Program enrollments were up 11% while the PBRIP payouts were up 17%.

Cementing his position as an elite sire of Paint racehorses, Judys Lineage surpasses $5 million in offspring earnings. The 1989 sorrel tobiano stallion by Special Lineage (TB) and out of Judys Chick is only the second stallion to reach this premier benchmark for racing-bred Paint Horses.

Some of Europe’s best Paint Horses were on display at the 2014 European Paint Horse Championships, the largest APHA-approved show outside of North America taking place September 1–6 in Kreuth, Germany. With 258 total horses and more than 950 entries, this show continues to be near the top of APHA’s Top 20 show list.

APHA named its third Hall of Fame class, composed of five individuals and four horses. Colin Beals, William Quention Foster, Harvey and Linda Jones, Hardy Oelke and Jim Smoot were the horsemen nominees while Cupid Bar, Leo San Man, My Painted Robin and Joechief Bar represented the Paint Horse breed.

The American Paint Horse Foundation received its single largest donation in history from Jerry Baker of Sequin, Texas. His donation, in honor of his late wife, Rebecca, created an endowment that will generate scholarships at the AjPHA Youth World Championship Show beginning in 2015.

In all, APHA experienced some positive changes and continued to watch American Paint Horses excel in inside and outside events in 2014.

The 2014 APHA Annual Report has been developed to work on smart phones and tablets as well as laptop and desktop computers. To optimize your enjoyment, make sure the web browser of your choice has been upgraded to the most recent version. To browse the Annual Report, visit apha.com/annualreport.
