Texas Horse and Other Animals Confirmed to Have Anthrax in Texas

After exposure to anthrax, it usually takes three to seven days for animals to show symptoms of anthrax. Once symptoms begin, death will usually occur within 48 hours. Acute fever followed by rapid death with bleeding from body openings are all common signs of anthrax in livestock. Owners of livestock and animals displaying symptoms consistent with anthrax or experiencing death of animals should contact a private veterinary practitioner or a TAHC official.

Fundraiser For Eric Hardesty Following Horrific Truck Accident

On Monday, July 8th, Eric was returning home from a horse show in Michigan when he lost control of his truck that was pulling a travel trailer. His truck plunged 25 feet off a bridge onto the road below. Watching from behind in a second vehicle was his fiancé, Amy Engelskirger. Thankfully, Eric only suffered a fractured vertebra in his neck, concussion, and numerous cuts and bruises. He is expected to make a full recovery, but will be out of work for several months.

2019 APHA Youth World Show Exhibitors Head Home With $250,000+ Cash and Prizes

Included were scholarships for top finishers in 87 world championship performance and halter classes, along with scholarships for randomly selected entries and other special events. All this in addition to the customary prizes awarded at the show, such as trophy buckles, jackets, halters and saddles. Scholarship money totaling more than $110,000 was provided by the American Paint Horse Foundation, as well as private donations from APHA members and industry supporters.
