MAQHA Corporate Challenge Exceeds All Expectations

The event decided to shake things up a bit this year with a new schedule, new flat rate for NSBA classes, inaugural Longe Line classes, 15 $500 added money classes, fun social events, and much more. The result was a six show event, July 11-15, that boasted 4,000 total entries for 1st split/combined show, 1,212 AQHA entries per judge, 196 total Showmanship runs, and plenty of happy exhibitors.

The 2017 AQHYA year-end high-point winners will also be recognized during the Parade of Teams. All youth teams and youth high-point winners will be honored in front of their peers, friends and family for their accomplishments. The 2018-19 AQHYA Executive Committee and regional directors will also be introduced at this year’s Parade of Teams. New this year, the fashion show will be included during the Parade of Teams, and the Ford Youth World dance will kick off immediately following the Parade of Teams in the Sales Pavilion (Barn 3).

At the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, in the Brooks Equine Genetic Lab, a team of graduate and undergraduate students, as well as a Ph.D. student, overseen by Dr. Samantha Brooks, a specialist in equine genetics, are working together to determine the genetic makeup specific to horses with the rabicano coat pattern.

You see, within certain levels of the competitive equine industry, there comes an understanding and trust between trainers. It’s not about “poaching” clients, but about sharing learning, and specifically sharing learning with clients that are seeking to learn.

2018 APHA Youth World Sees 1,200 Entries and 249 Horses from 32 States and Canada Compete

With the chance at some wonderful incentives, the show attracted nearly 1,200 entries and 249 horses from 32 U.S. states and Canada. Each class paid out $1,300 in scholarships. Several areas saw growth in entries over the 2017 show: Youth halter classes grew by 65%; solid-Paint bred halter classes were up 75%, and solid Paint-bred performance classes grew by 108%, just to name a few.
