Happy “LABOR” Day!
I know the majority of you are laboring away as we are all preparing for Fort Worth ! I pray your travels will be safe for you and your horses and the weather cools down some.
I wanted to give you all a few updates and reminders:
- First of all, it’s not too late to enter our Big Money and WCHA Breeder’s Futurities!
- Including the Youth Halter Stakes Classes sponsored by Joe’s Kansas City Bar B Que/Smith Show horses….. entry fees are only $250 per class and we always pay back to every exhibitor…horses of all breeds and any stallion are eligible….…PLUS some beautiful trophy buckles including a trophy buckle to highest placing INTERMEDIATE youth in each class…… I need 2 more buckle sponsors for these intermediate @ $250 per buckle.
- Dac Yearling Longe Line…….. $5,000 added and entries are still open !!!
- Ranch Classes………. Over $17,500 Added by Headley Quarter Horses plus 3 beautiful BOB’S Trophy Saddles donated by Steve/Kathy Headley and Amy Erhardt !!
- You can still enter all the weanling, yearling, two year old and three and over classes in both futurities right up until September 22nd. ((Yellow Rose is closed to entries)
- Reminder: If you’ve purchased a horse that you were told is fully paid into our futurities you STILL need to contact us with ownership change or you may not be entered or eligible for competition !!!
I also want to fill you in on our DRUG TESTING for this year, as an affiliate of APHA and our event is in partnership with them we will use APHA protocol in testing. I’ve attached the APHA Drugs & Medications Rules to this email so that you can comply to testing procedures.

WCHA will randomly test within the top 5 placings of designated classes: All three weanling classes in both sexes, all three yearling sex classes and also the Limited stakes classes for 2 year and 3 and over classes plus the Longe Line and Ranch class champions.
We were able to make the room for the Hall Of Fame Banquet larger to accommodate 40 more seats than last year but it has SOLD OUT except for 4-6 individual seats, thank you for your early enthusiasm to attend this fun filled event !!!!
AND……… your early bookings for hotel rooms within our Host Hotels has earned WCHA over $10,000 in rebates that will be paid back to us later this year !!! That’s crazy GOOD and we have to thank Dawn Causey for all the work she puts forth to book your rooms …….. over 1000 room nights !!! The $10,000 will go back into the purses for these futurities AND those of you who booked with us will be eligible for daily drawings for free night stay !!!! A huge thank you to those of you who called Dawn and booked your room this year !!! By doing so you did your part in helping raise additional purse monies and saved money on cheaper hotel rates.
Sponsors: I am overwhelmed with the generosity of the people listed below who “give back” to this association, our sponsorships this year have exceeded what we’ve been able to raise in the past. I feel bad that in order to get premium stalls you have to pay a sponsorship, WCHA does not receive any of those monies so when people donate to WCHA they do so because they take pride in this association and want to make this event “something special” for each and every participant. That’s a true donation. Please join me in giving these folks a thank you when you see them in Fort Worth, of course I’d love to add your name to this list because sponsorships are still available These sponsorships are vital to our efforts in paying back over $1,000,000 each year !!
