The New World Screwworm is affecting more than livestock – pets are at risk, too, and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) recently announced more than 30 confirmed instances in Texas and New Mexico, prompting warnings from veterinarians and humane societies that pet owners need to remain vigilant to protect their animals.
