Judges who earn Category I designation are eligible to officiate NSBA-approved horse shows with $10,000 or more in added money.
To be considered for an NSBA judges card, applicants must complete and submit an application by October 1. All applications are reviewed by the NSBA Judges Committee, and selected applicants are invited to participate in judges testing held in Weatherford, Texas in early December. The testing process includes a closed rulebook examination, video testing across all NSBA disciplines and a personal interview. After becoming an NSBA judge, all current judges are required to recertify every three years to maintain their judge’s card.
