NRHA Derby Watch 2015- Day 3

Oklahoma City, Okla., June 22, 2015 – The 2015 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Derby held its third day of competition on June 22 including the first go, first section of the $183,000 est. Non Pro, plus ancillary classes for non pro, open and rookie riders.

Sliding into the lead in the NRHA Level 4 Non Pro Derby first section of the first go-round of the derby is Lyndsey Jordan (Georgetown, Ky., $105,695 NRHA LTE) riding Made By Magnum (Magnum Chic Dream x Ready Made Cowboy). The 2010 stallion with $89,568 is owned by Lyndsey Jordan and was nominated by Lagle & Savage LLC.

Tying for second in the Level 4 Non Pro was Tish Fappani (Scottsdale, Ariz., $317, 964 NRHA LTE) aboard Hot Rockin Spook (Smart Spook x Hot Rockin Badger), Christy Braiser (Montrose, Colo., $141,051 NRHA LTE) aboard Boomers in the Bar (Boom Shernic x Gaye Bar Chex Lena), Samantha Belcher (Cave Creek, Ariz., $54,036 NRHA LTE) aboard Taser Gun (Jacs Electric Spark x Majestic Gun) and Veronica Lentini (Aubrey, Texas, $17,608 NRHA LTE) aboard Electrinicki (Jacs Electric Spark x Chexanicki) all scored a 216.

Hot Rockin Spook is a 2009 stallion with $30,914.95 NRHA LTE, is owned by Tish Fappani and was nominated by Stacy Jones.  Boomers in the Bar is a 2011 gelding with $14,496.74 NRHA LTE, is owned by Christy Brasier and was nominated by Ginger Schmersal. Taser Gun is a 2010 mare with $33,993 NRHA LTE, is owned by Samantha Belcher and was nominated by Ashley Weaver. Electrinicki is a 2009 mare with $18,707 NRHA LTE, is owned by Veronica Lentini and was nominated by Cinder Lakes Ranch.

The following horses/riders achieved success in the ancillary classes today:

APHA Solid Amateur – Jim Lane / Concealed Gunner
$500 added Rookie Professional – Lorenzo Concarella / Tinseltowns Pearl
$3,000 added Intermediate Open – Martin Padilla / Reeboks Rerun
$500 added Limited Open – Parker Wurst / Another Gunner Nite

The Adequan Championship Arena starts at 9 a.m. with ancillary classes including the Rookie Level 1, Rookie Level 2, $1,000-added Novice Horse Open Level 1, $2,000-added Novice Horse Open Level 2, AQHA Open, APHA Open and APHA Solid Open.
