Next Generation Takes Center Stage at Markel Insurance BCF Yearling Sale

The 2026 Markel Insurance BCF Yearling Sale closed with strong results and a look at the next generation of NSBA competitors.

Thirty-six yearlings sold for $827,500, topped by Hide The Cookis at $87,000 and Makin Em Talk at $82,000. The sale also generated an estimated $135,861.50 for the Sale Graduate purse, giving these yearlings even more to run for when they return to the Breeders Championship Futurity.

The 2026 Markel Insurance Breeders Championship Futurity Yearling Sale closed Friday evening, August 21, at the Tulsa Expo Center with 36 yearlings sold for a total of $827,500. The annual sale, held in conjunction with the NSBA World Championship Show and Breeders Championship Futurity, once again brought together pedigrees representing some of the industry’s most accomplished Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle families.

The 2026 sale posted an overall average of $24,236.11, while the top five sellers averaged $71,000 and the top 10 averaged $58,000.

The top 20 yearlings averaged $44,825, while the top 30 averaged $36,975. Yearlings sold through the sale are eligible to return to the NSBA Breeders Championship Futurity as two and three year olds to compete for a special Sale Graduate purse, estimated at $135,861.50 from the 2026 sale.

Hip #7 – HIDE THE COOKIS

No Doubt Im Lazy X The Cooki Monster

Leading the sale was Hide The Cookis, Hip No. 7, who brought $87,000 to become the High Selling Gelding and overall high seller. The 2025 sorrel gelding by No Doubt Im Lazy and out of The Cooki Monster was consigned by Capital Quarter Horses LLC, with Jessica Duffy serving as agent.

His pedigree brings together two of the most proven names in Western Pleasure. No Doubt Im Lazy, an AQHA World Champion and NSBA leading sire, has sired earners of more than $2.1 million, including NSBA World Champions Never Have I Ever, No Doubting Me and Knockin It Out. Hide The Cookis’ dam, The Cooki Monster, has earned $117,297 in NSBA competition and is an 11-time NSBA World Champion, AQHA World Champion and multiple Breeders Championship Futurity champion. His maternal granddam, A Cooki For Certain, is an NSBA Top 20 All-Time Leading Dam whose offspring have earned more than $300,000, including NSBA Horse of the Year and Hall of Fame inductee Whatscookngoodlookin.

Hip #31 – MAKIN EM TALK

Makin Me Willy Wild X Focus On The Good

Makin Em Talk, Hip No. 31, was the High Selling Filly at $82,000. The 2025 red roan AQHA and ABRA filly is by Makin Me Willy Wild and out of Focus On The Good. She was consigned by Bob and Kathie Kennedy, with Kathie Kennedy Performance Horses LLC serving as agent.

Makin Me Willy Wild was an NSBA World Champion WCHA Performance Halter Stallion and NSBA Reserve World Champion 3-Year-Old Open Western Pleasure Horse before establishing himself as a sire. His offspring include World Champions Makin Me Happy, Wicked Wilma, Cocochella, Make N Money and Makin Me Pretty. On the maternal side, Focus On The Good has also produced Focus On The Blue, a top-five finisher in the NSBA Breeders Championship Futurity Open Yearling Longe Line. The family traces to Ima Cadillc Kitten, whose performers include 2025 NSBA Reserve World Champion and BCF Sale Graduate Champion VS Leolita as well as 691-point earner Good Miss Cadillac.

Hip #30 – NEXXT THING YOU KNOW

Machine Made X KM Call Me Honey

Nexxt Thing You Know, Hip No. 30, led the colts at $21,000. The 2025 sorrel colt, by Machine Made and out of KM Call Me Honey, was consigned by Justin and Julie Voge, with Voge QH serving as agent.

Nexxt Thing You Know is by Machine Made, the 2025 NSBA No. 1 Leading Sire and No. 2 All-Time Leading Sire with offspring earnings exceeding $5.7 million. His performers include Nothin But Nett, The Cooki Monster, Hand Made Machine, VS The Fireman, Lexus Made Lady and Made N The Shade. His dam, KM Call Me Honey, is an NSBA World Champion, Congress Champion and NSBA High Point Senior Western Pleasure Champion with more than $34,000 in NSBA earnings and 497 points. She has also produced NSBA money-earner and Congress futurity finalist Made With Honey.

Easy On The Eyez X Hubba Hub Dancin

Leading the Hunter Under Saddle offerings was Eye Real Eyez That, Hip No. 57, at $24,000. Consigned by Kevin Griner, the 2025 bay gelding is by Easy On The Eyez and out of Hubba Hubba Dancin.

Eye Real Eyez That is by Easy On The Eyez, an AQHA World Champion Amateur Performance Halter Stallion and NSBA Breeders Championship Futurity 2-Year-Old Limited Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle Champion. His offspring include Easy Peazy, an NSBA World Champion with more than $60,000 in NSBA earnings, and NSBA World Champions Hubbout Those Eyez, Because Eye Said So and Bluest Eyez In Texas. His dam, Hubba Hubba Dancin, is an NSBA money-earner and performance ROM earner. His second dam, These Irons R Dancin, is an NSBA Top 20 All-Time Leading Dam whose eight money-earners have earned more than $268,000, including World Champions Hubbout A Dance, Hez A Dancin Hubba, A Boy Named Hoo and Hubbout Another.

Investing in the Next Generation

“Sometimes less is more,” noted Bill Kaven, NSBA Yearling Sale manager. “I think this sale proves that.”

The Markel Insurance Breeders Championship Futurity Yearling Sale is a limited entry consignment sale designed to bring many of the nation’s top yearlings to public sale. The sale is only open to yearlings enrolled in the NSBA Breeders Championship Futurity or NSBA Color Breeders Championship Futurity and is held in conjunction with the NSBA World Championship Show each year.

Yearlings purchased in the 2026 sale will become eligible for purse set aside for sale graduates who would compete in a designated Breeders Championship Futurity class in either their two year old year in 2027 or three year old year in 2028. Sale graduates must place in the top ten in their designated BCF class to earn their share of the sale graduate purse.

The NSBA Markel Insurance BCF Yearling Sale has been bringing yearling buyers and sellers together since the first sale in 2013. To date the NSBA Markel Insurance BCF Yearling Sale has generated an additional $1,828,984.50 that sale graduate owners may earn in addition to Breeders Championship Futurity money. Many NSBA yearling sale graduates have gone on to have stellar show careers. So far, sale graduates have won more than $4.5 million lifetime NSBA earnings, proving that they can not only perform but create a return on investment for those who purchased them.
