FORT WORTH – Executive Director Billy Smith invites members to comment on the show rules that the Judges’ Task Force has requested be implemented in January, 2014.

The Judge’s Committee recommended to the Board of Directors to form a task force that would review the work of the Judge’s Committee and make additional modifications to show rules. The request was to propose these rule modifications outside of the usual rule change approach as a way to speed the process.

Accordingly, President Reisinger called for a motion to support the creation of a Show Rules Task Force (This task force later began to be called the Judges’ Rules Task Force.)

It was noted during the directors’ meeting that the task force would continue to examine the rules in an effort to address any additional changes or related rules that might be affected by the proposed changes; then the Executive Committee would be given the final authority to approve and implement the rules. This was the process presented to the Board of Directors and approved in the following motion.

Motion #3: It was moved and seconded to approve the formation of a Show Rules Task Force, with the group’s findings going to the appropriate standing committees and finally to the Executive Committee for consideration and possible approval of these proposed rule changes, to take effect January 1, 2014. Motion passed.

The task force has worked diligently to develop a final document. It has been sent to these five committees and their comments have been incorporated: General Show and Contest, Rules, Judges, Amateur and Youth.

One additional step has been added to ensure that this process is completely transparent, i. e. posting it to the website for comments by any member. You will see the PDF link below which will allow you to examine and comment on the proposed changes prior to the Executive Committee’s review.

Click here Judges’ Rules to view the PDF which will allow you to examine and comment on the proposed changes prior to the Executive Committee’s review. Then add your comments below. Please include your name so that we may contact you if we have questions about your remarks.

Your comments must be made on or before November 1, as the Executive Committee will be making its decision at its November 8 meeting.
