Meet Our Newest EC Blogger- Kelly Rauschenbach

Hello!

My name is Kelly Rauschenbach, and I live in Canfield, Ohio, with my husband Corey and our dog Maverick. I’m currently an accountant, and I’ve been working in public accounting since graduating from Youngstown State University in 2012. I’m also actively pursuing my CPA license to take the next step in my career.

Showing horses has been a passion of mine for quite some time. I began showing when I was nine years old in my local 4-H, and then my parents introduced me to AQHA, where I have been competing for the past 16 years. The best part about showing is getting to travel and show alongside my mom, Kim Best with her horse Check This Machine, and my amazing trainers Brian and Sarah Bernatowicz of Canal Winchester, Ohio.

I was fortunate enough to purchase my horse Really Sudden, aka “Stevie,” about a year ago, and he has managed to surpass all of my expectations for a green horse. Stevie is a silly horse that loves peppermints, long naps after Halter, and hugs. We currently compete in the Amateur western all-around division, including Performance Geldings, Showmanship, Horsemanship, Trail, and Equitation. We are working our way towards Western Riding and other events. I truly love showing and learning with him.

When at the horse shows, whether it’s just a weekend show or the Quarter Horse Congress, I honestly enjoy the competitive atmosphere and the love for the sport and animal. This love is the reason we get up at crazy hours, practice all day in the hot sun or pouring rain, and wipe the dirt off and try again.

I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to take pictures and blog for some of the upcoming shows for The Equine Chronicle. I look forward to meeting new people and cheering everyone on! Good Luck!

Check out Kelly’s first photo blog from the Indy Circuit that’s currently underway in New Castle, IN. Stay tuned for more photos and results coming from Mark Harrell Horse Shows at the show’s conclusion. If you’d like to become an EC Blogger like Kelly, email B.Bevis@EquineChronicle.com.
