Last Minute Reminders For AQHA Youth World

AQHA Publicity

The 2019 Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show is almost here!

This is the largest Ford Youth World in history with 3,660 entries and more than 770 exhibitors from 43 states, three Canadian provinces, Australia, Costa Rica, Denmark and Poland.

Please review the following information and tips to help you get ready:

  • The State of Oklahoma is requiring horses living in counties with positive vesicular stomatitis cases to have a health certificate within 5 days of when you are traveling. Ford Youth World exhibitors who are from a county that has a positive VS case or from a premises quarantined for VS within the last thirty (30) days are required to have a health certificate within 5 days of when you leave, instead of the 30-day requirement. Additional resources and information such as state entry requirements are available at www.equinediseasecc.org
  • Move-in begins at noon, Tuesday, July 30.
    • On Tuesday, July 30, you’ll have one hour to park and move in. Starting Wednesday, July 31, arriving and departing trailers will have one hour for loading and unloading on Barn Row and the East side of the Super Barn. After an hour, they must move to designated parking areas. Stalls are assigned per affiliate, so be sure to check with your youth adviser if you have questions. Watch this helpful video for move-in procedures.
    • Pick up your back number and entry packet from the show office. Please be prepared with a copy of your horse’s registration papers. The show office opens at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31. Starting Thursday, August 1, the show office opens at 7 a.m. daily.
    • Review the qualifier’s handbook where answers to many show-specific questions can be found.
  • Check out the stalling charts. Remember, your youth adviser has individual stalling info.
  • Subscribe to the texting service for important show updates. To enroll, simply text AQHA to 806-576-0913.
  • Please check the tentative schedule for changes.
  • Patterns are posted! Check here for the patterns before you head to OKC. Working orders are already posted. Please note, updated working orders were posted July 25.
  • From socials to contests, there is something for everyone. View the tentative schedule to see what is waiting for you.
  • Exhibitors will receive a free digital file of their performance. Official show videographer Equine Promotion will automatically email exhibitors a link to their run so they can download and share it on social media. This is free; no signup is necessary. There still are a variety of video options for purchase, too. Visit the booth in the Super Barn to learn more and update your email address.
  • Check out the Nutrena Ride the Pattern Clinic schedule and get ready to learn from AQHA Professional Horsemen.
  • Feel the need for speed? The $3,000-added open 5D barrel race is Thursday, August 8, with AQHA-approved classes for junior, senior, youth, amateur and Select amateur exhibitors. Pre-enter online  by midnight Sunday, August 4. You can find the schedule, entry form and additional information at www.trikbarrels.com.
  • Earn money with your AQHA Ranching Heritage-Bred horse. The owner of the overall highest placing RHB horse at the Ford Youth World will receive $250, plus a trophy. The breeder also receives $250. There’s no entry fee. To find out if your horse was bred by an AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeder, check this list of breeders.
  • If you haven’t already:
    • Reserve your golf cart from Metro Golf Cars by calling 1-800-772-6507 and ask for Johnny or email Johnny@metrogolfcars.com.
    • Rent your stall mat from Elite Stall Mat Rentals.
    • Confirm your hotel reservation.
    • Pre-order shavings by calling 405-948-6786. Please note, it has been brought to AQHA’s attention that exhibitors from other events taking place at State Fair Park have received phone calls stating that State Fair Park is running short on shavings and needs to confirm shavings orders this year. This is a scam. The company name associated with this scam is Union Supply Direct with a 405 area code. State Fair Park officials have confirmed they do not have a shortage. Please do not give your credit card information, unless you contact the phone number above.
    • Order additional stalls for non-competing horses upon arrival.

Before you travel, make sure your tires are road worthy! If you need new tires, go to BF Goodrich and save $100 off a set of four all terrain T/A K02 Tires, courtesy of AQHA corporate partner, BFGoodrich®.
