Judges Announced For 2014 European Paint Horse Championships

Some of the industry’s top judging talent is slated to officiate at the 2014 European Paint Horse Championship coming up September 1-6 in Kreuth, Germany. They are Jane Bagley of Dimmitt, Texas; Laura Gilmer of Franklin, Tennessee; Larry Hansch of Marion, Iowa; Brad Kearns of Grayslake, Illinois; and Nancie Wright of Penrose, Colorado. Last year, “EuroPaint” attracted 947 entries and ranked as the second largest APHA-approved show in the world and the largest held outside the U.S. and Canada.

Jane Bagley

With more than 40 years of experience in the equine industry, Jane Bagley serves on the faculty of Texas Tech University and together with her husband Scott breeds reining, working cow and ranch horses to work cattle on their ranch in Dimmitt, Texas. Holding judging cards with APHA, AQHA, NRHA, NRCHA, PHBA and NSBA, Jane has officiated at the APHA World Show, the AQHA Youth World Show, and the National Western Stock Show as well as events in Australia, France and Sweden.

Laura Gilmer

Hailing from Franklin, Tennessee, Laura Gilmer is a journalist and judge with 30 years of experience in the equine industry, holding cards with AQHA, NRHA and NSBA. Laura began showing Quarter Horses in 1985, was the youngest Congress and All-Around Youth in the nation, and has bred Congress winners and Top 10 finishers. She’s judged the Q13 in Germany, the NSBA European Championship, the Dixie Nationals, and the Virginia Classic, among others.

Larry Hansch 

Trainer Larry Hansch of Marion, Iowa, has been involved with the horse industry for more than 41 years. He holds cards with APHA, AQHA, NSBA and WCHA. Larry has judged the APHA World Show, the AQHA World Show, the NSBA World Show and the Quarter Horse Congress.

Brad Kearns

Professional horse trainer Brad Kearns has 30 years of equine experience, specializing in the all-around horse. The Grayslake, Illinois, resident has more than 23 years experience as a judge, having officiated at the APHA Youth World Show, the AQHA World Show, the NSBA World Show and many other major events. In addition to his APHA card, Brad also holds judging credentials with AQHA and NSBA.

Nancie Wright

With more than 35 years of equine experience, Nancie Wright divides her time between training and showing horses in diverse events ranging from reining, trail, pleasure, Western riding to halter as well as coaching Youth and Amateurs to World All-Around titles. The Penrose, Colorado, resident holds judging cards with APHA, AQHA, NRHA, NRCHA, WCHA and ABRA.
