The APHA Board of Directors elected Jamie Howard as their next president-elect on May 30, 2025. The president-elect is selected from and elected by the existing members on the APHA Board of Directors. Jamie will take the reins as president-elect in March 2026 and take office as president in 2027.
Jamie, a horseman from Wayne, Oklahoma, has been part of the APHA Board of Directors since 2022. He was elected to his second three-year term on the Board of Directors in March 2025; his current spot on the board will be filled as part of the Board of Directors election in March 2026.
A lifetime APHA member, Jamie is a Paint Horse owner, breeder and racing advocate. He’s served as chairman of the Racing and Breed Integrity advisory committees, was a member of the disciplinary committee and was chairman of the 2020 Presidential Commission. He is the owner of Territory Whiskey LLC, and previously owned and managed businesses in the irrigation and aviation maintenance industries. Jamie is a founder and board member of the Horse Nations Indian Relay Council Inc. He owns and operates Running Colors Equine Inc., a racehorse breeding operation, with his wife, Wendy.
The Nominating & Leadership Development Committee will select qualified candidates later this year for consideration to fill Board of Director positions coming open in 2026.
