EVERYTHING You Need to Know About the 2018/2019 Florida Circuits

Who is ready for the Florida Winter Shows?

If you’re coming from the North, the answer is YES! We’re ready for Florida! All of the Florida shows are shaping up nicely. If you’re still interested in joining us, act sooner than later. There will be 18 total AQHA shows, flat rate options, fantastic NSBA classes, multiple parties, and so much more. Please do not pull onto the grounds in Tampa or Venice hoping for stalls. Call first.

General Florida Details

ENTRIES – No entries will be taken without a check or credit card to hold the entries. If you’re showing in all three circuits, you will need separate payment at all three shows. Also, be prepared once to present all paperwork. (Even if you just showed with us last weekend.) If you’re showing the entire series, present complete paperwork at the start and then only basic information is required from there forward. But, you must fill out an entry form at EACH show. COMPLETE paperwork means: papers, AQHA & NSBA cards, Roan Horse, ROM, NSBA certificate of eligibility and more. KNOW your LEVELS. We do NOT charge for scratches. (For Venice money classes, you must scratch three classes in advance not to be charged.) Remember that most NSBA memberships will expire December 31st. Memberships can be renewed at the show and an NSBA representative will be available as well at the Venice show.

BACK NUMBERS – They will be assigned in the show office. You will use the same number during both Tampa shows and then have a new number for Venice.

PERMITS – The Gold, Gulf, & Fox Lea Farm’s Winter Circuit will NOT require those exhibitors in the Level 1 classes to show on a permit. This will make it much easier for you to try out that new horse.

Health Requirements – If you have never been to the State of Florida to show, do NOT drive pass the Ag Stations! Also, if you’re showing at the Tampa shows, please know the FAIRGROUNDS HEALTH REQUIREMENTS. All horses must have a negative Coggins test performed within 12 months of the show. The EIA test information must be completely recorded on the health certificate. COGGINS PAPERS MUST ARRIVE WITH THE HORSES. NO BACK NUMBER will be given for any horse without a copy of a negative Coggins. Those ‘ride around’ horses must present their papers as well. NO EXCEPTIONS. State Of Florida Health Regulations: Horses must travel with original or notarized copy of Negative Coggins test dated within 12 months. Additionally, OUT OF STATE HORSES must travel with Health Certificates less than 30 days old. Please check with your own veterinarian for individual state requirements. State of Florida is strict about this, please check carefully.

The Florida Gold Coast begins December 28th and concludes December 31st. Wrap up those 2018 points in style. Did you know there is a New Year’s Eve party on the grounds? You can reserve your table, which includes party tickets, in the show office or by contacting Matt Morrissey in advance. We will have the office open on December 27th to accept all of your entries. Remember, you can download any of the tab sheets in advance and have them filled out.

Green/Novice/Level 1 Rules

Do you know about SHW250 in the Rule Book pertaining to Level 1 points? At the December shows, we see many of you holding back in the L1 Open and the L1 Amateur, and Youth classes so you will not point out. BUT the point levels are pulled November 1st of every year. Whatever points you had on November 1st are the points you will carry for the following year. SO SHOW!!

Walk/Jog Rules

Do you know that beginning January 1st, the rules for W/J change? SHW755.2 – you can no longer show one horse in the WJ classes and another horse in the WJL classes. (Example – Jane cannot show Bob in the L1 Am WJ Pleasure and Rocky in the L1 Amateur Pleasure – WJL.) This rule is based on the horse/rider combination. Jane’s mother, if L1 eligible, can show Bob in the WJ Pleasure and Jane can show Bob in the WJL Pleasure, as it is a different combination.
