Europe’s Best Reiners Meet in Austria Today For $120,000-added High Class Reining

Today, the first NRHA High Class Reining begins in Weikersdorf/Austria. The $120,000-added event, which is scheduled until Sunday July 26, is powered by numerous sponsors, its main sponsor being KL Perfomance Horses.

The event has attracted Europe’s top reiners including NRHA Million Dollar Riders Cody Sapergia, Rudi Kronsteiner and Bernard Fonck, Grischa Ludwig, Ann Fonck as well as NRHA World Champions Tina Kunstner-Mantl and Manuel Bonzano. There are a variety of attractive NRHA classes, but the focus is on the $100,000-added NRHA High Class Reining Maturity for 5- to 8-year-old horses. 81 horses have been entered in the Open Maturity, 67 in the Non Pro.

“Everything was ready in time, and our facility presents itself at its best,” says event manager Elli Preimesberger. “The organization was not easy, but it was worth every trouble. The best riders are here, and our main sponsor K&L is very enthusiastic about the event. The paid warmups started yesterday, and everything worked out smoothly. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the competitors are obviously happy with the arena dirt.”

This will be a hot week and weekend in every respect. Temperatures are in the high 90s now, but the show management installed plenty of washing places for the horses. A pleasant breeze goes through the tent stalls, so it’s not that hot. And even the big trucks are connected to a special external generator.

The show starts today with the Novice Horse Open Level 2 with 47 horses, followed by the Rookie Level 1, the SBH Open (5 & under) and finally the Maturity Non Pro Go round. The best horses of the go round and of the Non Pro consolation run on Thursday will meet again in the Non Pro Maturity final on Friday.
