EC Youth Bloopers 2025 – Round 1
Earlier this month, we kicked off our call for youth bloopers with this post:
1. AAYHS Equitation Over Fences Blooper
Today’s funny photo of the day is from Lori Cluckey, who says, “I wanted to share a bloopers photo from the All American Youth Horse Show this year. My daughter had just completed her equitation over fences course when she bit the dust (first time ever falling off at a show). We believe this is the perfect horse show blooper photo; everyone who has seen it thinks it’s hilarious. Prior to this class she was 2nd in Hunter Hack and 2nd in Hunter over Fences. Think it would be great if the Equine Chronicle would run a Youth Show Bloopers reel.”
Since then, we have received plenty of boo-boos, blunders, and silly business photos and videos! Keep scrolling for the first set, but we have more to post (don’t worry if you don’t see yours yet), as there are more we haven’t shared yet!
2. Maggie Middleton with CR Kissin Machine, sent by Kristen Smalley. Maggie? Maggie? Where are you, Maggie?!
3. Claire Stead and Woody, discovering during Western Riding that Woody hates wind. Pinnacle Circuit 2022. Well, maybe he hates it just a little…
4. Future Pickup Riders in Training, aka “Watch What You Wish For.”
“Auditioning for the rodeo… or launching into orbit? Future pickup riders in training—hang on tight!” says Alice Howard. “The girls were playing around saying they were training to be pickup riders. Both stayed on.”
5. Ashton Brandt and Thats Good, aka “JD,” aka “Baby Piranha.”
“This was Aston Brandt and Thats Good aka JD in their pinto world show showmanship pattern in 2024,” says Britney Brandt. “This earned him the nickname of baby piranha… this was about 2 seconds before he clipped her heel and she almost fell. No worries, they’re doing much better in showmanship in 2025!”
6. Morgan Brown and CR Good Time during what’s known as the “getting to know you” stage.
“This was my second showmanship class ever with this horse, CR Good Time,” explains Morgan. “He stepped on the heel of my boot while trotting so that is what caused the fall.”
7. Lauralei McGill and don’t squat – we mean don’t run – with your spurs on. “This is my daughter Lauralei McGill practicing showmanship, forgetting to remove her spurs,” says Sara McGill. “They locked up and down she went…”
8. Lindee Diloretta at the AAYHS, aka “Tell us how you really feel!” Lindee says, “I’m not sure if it’s a blooper, but my mate’s face is priceless!”

9. Mira Kumar and Dont Be Lazy, in a “what did I step in?” moment. Actually, young Mira had realized at the 2024 Washington State Paint Horse Club Star Spangled Classic that her Shyanne boot has a lightning bolt on the bottom! The moment was caught by Karissa Landis of Topline Image.

10. Ashton Lowe, Cayden Lowe, and Carsyn Sawyer make faces with Doris Dean (KM Taylor Made Girl). We just want to know who said, “All together now,” and made it work!
