Also known as EC Photo of the Day – Tell us your horse is broke without telling us your horse is broke!
Youth Reid Lundquist of Kansas had recently taken his APHA gelding, Oh Y Not Me, aka “Rascal,” to the Kansas Saddle Horse Association Summer Spree in Salina, Kansas, and was showing him in Halter, explains his mom, Stacie Lundquist. “The gelding started wiggling around in the Halter class and I thought that was strange for him,” she says.
“They came out of the class and started warming up for Showmanship and when he was turning I saw something in Rascal’s tail. I thought the tail was coming apart and maybe it was tape, so we finished our practice pattern and set up. I went to fix the tail and there was a bat! It was just hanging there snoozing away!! I gently shook him out of the tail, and he took off.”
Thank you to the Lundquist family for allowing us to share this occurrence you don’t see every day! If you have a great photo of the day, please email it to: Delores.Kuhlwein@EquineChronicle.com.
