Cross My Heart Trail with Judge Jennifer Sawyer

Multi Carded Judge and trainer Jennifer Sawyer of Silver Springs, Florida, brings us a diverse trail obstacle, just in time for Valentine’s Day practice!

From Judge Jennifer Sawyer:

For this one, I’m using two 10’ poles for each side of the bottom of the heart, single 10’ poles for the rest, but you can use whatever size fits your horse, your pen and your purpose! You can always make the grid larger with cones as spacers, flowers, etc. These add visuals and are great for a “looky” horse to gain confidence.

Remember your striding and spacing rules regardless of what pace you are riding at. Grids are not meant to be a trap, nor should they be so large they don’t challenge you and make you think and feel. Always — I mean ALWAYS– remember to follow correct bend and ride from “rear to front” through your grids. You should never find yourself pulling your horse around by their head.
