“Giving more people the chance to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle on their public lands is a key part of helping outdoor recreational activities such as trail riding continue to grow,” said AHC President Julie Broadway. “We are glad to be a participant in the ORIR in order to ensure that recreational riders continue to have the ability to enjoy riding on public lands in areas they love.”

The signature piece for the 2017 show is a piece by artist Joni Beinborn of La Crosse, Wisconsin. The piece is titled “Any Time … Any Place.” Beinborn, along with many of the contributing artists, will be at the opening, which is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on August 12 at the Museum. The event will feature live music, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.

During the highly anticipated Dressage Showcase, Palm and American Quarter Horse Hot N Royal performed Level 1 maneuvers to a medley of western-themed classical music. Hot N Royal, a 9 year old gelding owned by Adelaide Pickett of Crystal River, FL, impressed the crowd with his elegance and classical movement all in western tack and attire.

“I think anything we can do to help this program advance and get full NCAA accreditation is important, and if I can be a part of that with my history in the horse industry and in academia, I’ll be glad to try and do that,” Heird stated.
