APHA’s world shows haven’t cracked the 1,000-horse and 15,000-entry ceiling since the Youth World Show split from the Open/Amateur World Show in 2008. The show saw an increase in several key areas’ entries over the 2016 Open/Amateur World Show, including Amateur Walk-Trot classes (up 51%), Open Halter classes (up 22%), Novice Amateur classes (up 19%), Amateur Solid Paint-Bred classes (up 17%), total Open classes (up 10%) and Amateur performance classes (up 5%).

The Nutrena East is slated for May 2-6, 2018. AQHA and the World Equestrian Center have agreed to a three-year contract covering 2018-2020.

All-around trainer Brian Henry of Fruita, Colorado, even got in on the PBRIP action aboard Mycheck A Kelley and claimed the 2D futurity championship, along with $1,060. Mycheck A Kelley is a 2012 bay tobiano gelding by Darkelly (QH) and out of Check C Tariat; he is owned by Jennifer Austin-Parker of Smithfield, Utah.

The qualifying period began August 1, 2017, and ends July 31, 2018. The 2018 Lucas Oil World is slated for November 1-17, 2018, in Oklahoma City.

Now, the Congress is known as the world’s largest single-breed horse show, boasting more than 17,000 entries annually and housing nearly 6,000 registered American Quarter Horses during its three-week duration.

The High-Point Ranch Horse winner in each Honor Roll division receives a beautiful ranch saddle made by Elite Custom Saddles. To qualify for these year-end awards, exhibitors must earn at least one point in each individual ranch class: ranch pleasure, ranch trail, ranch cow work and ranch reining. The exhibitor in each division who earns the most points overall in all four classes combined is the high-point champion.
