NQHL Will Debut New Working Hunter Under Saddle Class at Big A

Light contact with the horse’s mouth is required, and quality of movement is the emphasis. Only extremely high or below level head carriage to be penalized. Judges may ask horses to hand gallop collectively one way of the ring. Horses should move with long, low strides reaching forward with ease and smoothness, be able to lengthen stride and cover ground with relaxed, free-flowing movement, while exhibiting correct gaits that are of the proper cadence as seen in a working hunter over-fence class.

Changes to AQHA Ranch Horse Classes for 2015-2016

For 2015, the AQHA Show Committee has reworked VRH, creating six classes: VRH ranch riding, VRH ranch trail, VRH ranch reining, VRH ranch cow work, VRH ranch cutting and VRH ranch conformation. The Association’s new ranch division gives exhibitors the opportunity to compete in the open, amateur, youth and cowboy divisions in any one of the classes; exhibitors are not required to compete in all six classes.

In conjunction with the Zone 4 Show, the South Central Paint Horse Championship named 15 new champions in classes ranging from showmanship to trail. The show was hosted by the Texas Paint Horse Club and was open to any APHA member residing in Zone 4, which consists of New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
