Equestrians with disabilities will have their time to shine at the Stars & Stripes Summer Spectacular June 28 in Fort Worth, Texas. APHA and the Appaloosa Horse Club are excited to join forces to present this special opportunity for challenged riders to take the stage during the 2016 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show and World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show.

“The AjPHA national directors are Youth who are active in the horse industry in many ways—some ride on the APHA show circuit, some rope and barrel race with their Paints, others show on equestrian teams with the Interscholastic Equestrian Association and yet others enjoy recreational riding on their horses,” said Christine Henry, director of Youth and Amateur programs & awards.

The Executive Committee approved a recommendation from the Western Dressage Task Force to adopt western dressage as an AQHA-recognized discipline in 2018. The Executive committee also approved the use of task forces to investigate the health of the hunter division, review of the show leveling system and the viability of a special-event rodeo held in conjunction with the Built Ford Tough AQHYA World Championship Show.

The Arizona Paint Horse Club is proud to present the Summer Celebration Show, May 14-15 at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Arizona. Judges for the show will be Rick McClain and Tina White.

In special recognition of those Non-Pro (Amateurs) who breed, own and show their Paints, the 2016 World Show will include three new WCHA Amateur Owner-Breeder-Exhibitor weanling halter classes. These are non-world championship classes, and 80 percent of exhibitors’ $500 entry fees will be jackpotted.

Exhibitors at the 2016 Nutrena East AQHA Level 1 Championships shined their boots and dusted off their hats for the first day of competition yesterday at the Gov. James B. Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina. The show kicked off at 8 a.m. with Level 1 youth working hunter.

The American Quarter Horse Association is soliciting host-site bids for the 2016 Zoetis AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse and John Deere AQHA Cowboy Mounted Shooting World Championships, to be held in spring 2017. The inaugural Zoetis VRH World was held in 2008 in Denver, during the National Western Stock Show and then relocated in 2011 to Houston, during the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

The APHA Executive Committee recently approved a motion that will allow solid Paint-bred horses with two Regular Registry parents the opportunity to compete in most non-world championship classes alongside their Regular Registry counterparts, based on feedback from the World Show Advisory Committee.

The event is scheduled for July 27-30, 2016 at the C Bar C Expo Center in Cloverdale, Indiana. The event is triple judged offering triple points and a one-day, four judge warmup show on July 26th, plus an IBHA approved triple judged show on July 25th.
