Auburn Equestrian Remains at Top of Latest NCEA Rankings

No. 1 Auburn remains on top of the coach’s poll with Texas A&M sliding into the No. 2 spot this week.  Baylor and SMU jump up to No. 3 and No. 4.  Georgia drops down to No. 5 following a loss to South Carolina last week. The No. 6, No. 7, and No. 8 spots go to TCU, Oklahoma State, and South Carolina.  Rounding out the top 10 this week are No. 9 Delaware State and No. 10 Fresno State.

The South Carolina equestrian team earned its first win of the season after downing No. 2-ranked Georgia, 10-9, Friday afternoon at One Wood Farm in Blythewood. The Gamecocks also claimed the Hunter Seat competition, 5-4, and the Western side after a tiebreaker in reining, 5-4.

The show saw an increase in several key areas over the 2017 Open/Amateur World Show including Amateur Walk-Trot classes (up 40%), Novice Amateur classes (up 8%), Amateur Solid Paint-Bred performance classes (up 15%), Amateur halter classes (up 47%), Breeders’ Futurity classes (up 12%) and added-money classes (up 42%).
