Cannizzaro and Hatten Win 3YO Open, Intermediate Western Pleasure at The Madness

From NSBA at The Madness 2026:

The $2,000 Added Three Year Old Open Western Pleasure Futurity at the 2026 Madness featured a bonus for Intermediate riders, attracting 14 entries for a very competitive class. Angie Cannizzaro showed Lookn Like Trouble for Justin and Julie Voge to win the Open division, earning $1,222.40. Dillon Hatten took Hearts On Fiire to the Intermediate bonus for owner Taylor Punt.

No Trouble for Lookn Like Trouble

Angie described her mare as ‘the most magnificent horse ever.’ “Her name is Mya, and she’s by Hay Goodlookn out of Troubles A Blazin,” she said. “I just got her back a couple of weeks ago from the breeding shed. She’s owned by Justin and Julie Voge, and they had flushed three embryos by Heartstoppin and When N Where. She shaped up pretty quickly and we brought her here.”

When asked about Mya’s best qualities, Angie said: “She always shows and she goes exactly where I want her to go. She’s so soft, and very correct. She towers above all the other horses but it doesn’t matter, she just stays so up and is really a freak.”

This is Mya’s second outing of the year. “We got to show her at Fun In The Sun in Venice and had a great time there,” Angie said. “Justin Voge showed her for the first time and won the Limited Non-Pro and Non-Pro Three Year Old Western Pleasure, and I was able to show her in the Open Three Year Old Western Pleasure and win that as well. After that she went to the breeding shed, so she’s had to sit out for just a little bit. We’re very excited for her to continue with Justin in the Limited Non-Pro and Non-Pro classes and I’ll continue to show her in the Three Year Old events.”

Justin is a reproductive veterinarian, and wasted no time getting the breeding work done with Mya so she could continue her horse show journey. “Nancy Ditty raised her, and sold her as a yearling to the Voges,” Angie explained. “They had always wanted to have a mare out of this mare’s grandmother, Really In Trouble, to breed to their stallion Heartstoppin and other stallions a well. They took a chance and it really worked out well.”

“I have to thank my husband Charles and Beckey Schooler for helping me, and Lynn DePalma helps a lot back at the stalls, as well as everyone at home that keeps us going.”

Bittersweet Ride For Dillon Hatten and Hearts On Fiire

It was a bittersweet ride for Dillon Hatten aboard Hearts On Fiire. “I was happy to get to go out with success because we just sold ‘Goose’ into Alex Bryner’s program – he’s going to be an All Around horse there,” Dillon said. 

“Our client Taylor Punt raised him, and they have a great mare at home. He’s a full brother to the Congress champion When You Know You Know. He’s been a great horse. Today was my best trip on him ever. I love this horse because he’s amazing in his top line, he’s just got so much rhythm and it’s so easy for him.”

Dillon talked about the addition of the Intermediate bonus. “It’s very encouraging to see shows adding the Intermediate division in after NSBA added the division back in,” he said. “It gives us something to show for. I’m a Limited rider, but I have the opportunity to show up a level, and it allowed me to be reserve in the Limited division, win the Intermediate and sixth in the Open, and made money in all of it., and that is great for the industry, We appreciate the Madness, the NSBA and everyone for adding that in.”
