The Mayflower brought some fresh ideas again this year with our Mayflower Money, putting $2,000 added money into 12 classes awarded based on the circuit award placings for the top 3 to earn cash.
Also new this year was my Trainer Barn Challenge, where trainers could sign themselves up with all the horses that showed under their barn. We added the points earned and divided their totals by the number of horses for the average. Hannah Lind with Show Horses by Shannon & Hannah won the Turtlebox Ranger Speaker and Lucky Chuck Socks sponsored by bar H Photography. Since Hannah was an IQHA member, she also earns a $75 cash bonus from IQHA.
Duane Van Horn celebrated his 95th birthday, which is coming up on May 25, with another circuit championship on his mare I Wanta Rock in the amateur walk/trot western pleasure. Duane is everyone’s favorite cheerleader!”
Duane says, “Since I started showing again after losing my dear wife Beverly, five years ago I’ve had 85 wins 18 circuit championships and 7 IQHA championships at almost 95 years old .I can’t believe it myself.”
