Around the Rings – 2024 AQHA West L1 Championship Show – Saturday, May 18
On the last day of the 2024 AQHA West L1 Championship Show, Showmanship and Trail were the names of the game, and in the first showmanship class, Johanne Fenwick, who rides with John and Jill Briggs, took the gold with Chicks Dig Chocolate, aka “Vegas,” suitably!
Johanne says she’s been doing showmanship for the past 6-7 years, and “It was my first big win!” exclaimed Johanne. They worked on every maneuver to prepare for this pattern and show, she says, including the backup, which was a tough maneuver.
“Vegas is just an amazing showmanship horse and he kind of just walks me through it and I just follow his lead. I’m so happy.”
She was seen profusely thanking her trainers, John and Jill Briggs on the way out of the arena. “They are fabulous, and they have put up with me all week and I appreciate everything they’ve done. They’re very, very good coaches and instructors.”
Later in the day, Johanne and Vegas were also crowned L1 Amateur Select Reserve All Around Champions!
