Around the Ring Photos and Results From Cornhusker Classic

The Nebraska Quarter Horse Association recently kicked off their Cornhusker Classic horse show June 14th and it will continue through June 23rd. The AQHA, NQHA, and NSBA approved show provides six full shows at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln. Judges include Jeff Greaves, Pierre Briere, Tonya Brown, Nancy Sue Ryan, Larry Hansch, Derek Hanscome, TW Grose, Eric Petersen, and Lisa Ligon.

The 2018 version was a Top 10 AQHA show, and only time will tell if this year’s event will surpass attendance from the previous year. They’re already off to a good start with several added money NSBA classes and Premier Quarter Sires futurities.

Gabby Marty rode Iresistable Krymsun to win the Premier Sires Limited Non Pro Maturity Western Pleasure and $1,500. The Reserve Champion was Amy Mackie Smith with Special N I Know It, winning $1,200. Third was Robin Ochs Beall with Wam Bam Thank You Mam to win $900. Fourth was Jeri Kay Lockwood with A Diva By Moonlight, winning $500. Fifth was Logan Starnes with Certainly Flatlined, winning $400. Sixth was Francesca Wierda with VS Life Support. Seventh was Cindy Cosentino with Born A Hot Loper. Eighth was Karen Bandstra with One Hot Krymsun Kiss.

Erin Shapiro Boatwright rode Me and My Assets to win $1,500 in the Premier Sires Limited Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle Maturity. The Reserve Champion was Taylor Searles with Best Jazz Album Yet, winning $1,200. Third was Mallory Menard with Al About My Assets, winning $900. Fourth was Amy Mackie Smith with Withoutyoualbeblue, winning $500. Fifth was Alessandra Ehrle with Talk Southern To Me, winning $400. Sixth was Kristin Rae Smith with Pistol Packing Annie. Seventh was Sara Jackson-Vance with Stealing The Prise.

Nick Weiss rode Moonlite Imagination to win the 3-Year-Old Limited Horse Limited Rider Western Pleasure, winning $10,000. The Reserve Champion was Julie Wolf Voge with Chasing Batterflies, winning $6,250 for Scott and Linda Berwick. Third was Houston Huff with KM Betcha Im Best, winning $3,750 for Jaida Dreyer. Fourth was Carmen Mayabb with Shes A Perfect Storm, winning $3,125 for Robin Shiflett. Fifth was Stephanie Armellini with Shootin The Breeze, winning $2,500 for Kathryn Frederick.

Sixth was Katie Buff with VS Red Hot, winning $1,875. Seventh was Mallory Vroegh with Amarillo By Moonlite, winning $1,250. Eighth was Denny Jones with Would Could Shoulda, winning $1,062 for Kenneth and Laina Banks. Ninth was Alicia Porter with First At Batt, winning $812. Tenth was Chris Holbin with Lazy Lopin Cookies, winning $625 for Bill and Cindy Cosentino.
